Blue Book - Family Global Guide

It is with great pride that we announce the online release of the sixth edition of the Family Global Guide, better known as the ‘Blue Book,’ published by Thomson Reuters and edited by James Stewart.

The first edition of this book was published in 2011 and was very successful, leading to subsequent editions with each edition becoming more developed and comprehensive.

James Stewart wrote the preface of the book and the chapter on English and Welsh law, co-authored with Rebecca Dziobon.

Now, the sixth edition of the Blue Book includes, for the first time, a chapter on Portuguese jurisdiction authored by Dr. Nuno Cardoso Ribeiro.

The ‘Blue Book’ is a reference in the field of International Family Law, being the most comprehensive comparative guide available in the market, covering over 60 jurisdictions.

The book features contributions from many family law experts from various parts of the world and is consulted by thousands of individuals every month, serving as a valuable resource for judges, academics, and international lawyers.

The chapter on Portuguese Family Law can be accessed at this link.

In the guide, you’ll find answers regarding the current legal frameworks in each of the covered countries on family law matters: divorce and separation, common-law unions, children and parental responsibilities, parental abduction, alimony, marriage property regimes, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

If you are interested in a jurisdiction other than Portuguese, you can explore the remaining chapters available here.
